The Masked Man

I wrote this back in 2001. :) Anyone else have a past history with the "Masked Man"?

The Masked Man: "A strange thing has happened since I first became a mother, and it began as soon as my first little one spoke her first words... the 'masked man' had arrived. I'm still not sure how he so sneakily made his way into our home, especially when he had made himself so comfortable in his former home with my own mother. 'Who is this masked man?' you might ask. Well, I can't exactly describe him... I have NEVER seen this masked man, but I can impart my hard earned wisdom unto you, so that you may be able to track down this culprit of so many doings. He always leaves a trail, and can be known mainly through these few words... 'Not me!' 'I don't know!' 'I didn't do it!' When an item is found broken on the floor, and the voices of your children exclaim any of the former upon being asked 'Who did this?' (don't mind the young boy who is quickest to run and hide after questioning!)... the masked man has struck. When you find a bottle of Hershey's Strawberry Syrup sucked dry, and not one person admits to being the guilty party (and don't be fooled by the sticky, pink residue on your toddlers innocent looking face!)... the masked man is loose!! I remember the days that the masked man wrecked havoc in my childhood home... he ALWAYS seemed to be guilty of some wrong doing. My poor mother, who put up with so much of the masked man's orneriness, is now free of his evil clutches, and my turn has arrived. We must all stand strong and united against this masked man... and DEFINITELY, do NOT look elsewhere when you find the finger nail polish on its side on your couch (disregard the curious smears of bright pink on your four year old's finger tips)... the masked man is rampant again!!!"
